KaNu Dance Theater

The mission of KaNu Dance Theater is to promote change and peace in Haiti and around the world by sharing with the world; Haitian heritage, history, culture, and educating our spectators through contemporary, modern, and Afro-Caribbean dance. KaNu is an abbreviation for “Ka Pa Nou” in Haitian-Kreyol which means “Our Situation.” KaNu Dance Theater hopes to be able to continue to share “Our Situation” or better yet “KaNu” through dance, theater and song. Alvin Ailey Voices & Visions Workshop with Michael Leon Thomas

Contemporary

In a creative learning environment, Michael Leon Thomas will teach a phrase of movement, and along with the participants, use that phrase to build a new work inspired by the dancers that will utilize their strengths. Driven by the music, Thomas' choreographic style is a soulful blend of contemporary movement that he uses to create new worlds and the people in them. 

 

Alvin Ailey Voices & Visions Workshop with Sekou Miller

Afro Latin Jazz Fusion- VIDEO

This unique repertory/choreography workshop features work that celebrates the Latin rhythms and music while blending urban dance styles with jazz and contemporary movement. Dancers explore the intricate musicality, style and attitude of this unique latin dance fusion and participate in storytelling that aims to inspire dancers to not only acknowledge their roles in creation but to become active participants in the process!
